Today, I am reminded of a song by The O’Jays entitled “How Time Flies.” We never imagined that 21 years ago today, God had a plan to invigorate, and bless our lives with a much-needed touch from Him. His plan, as we now know, involved one of the most precious gifts of a lifetime. Son, that gift was you! From the moment you entered this world, to this day, you’ve given our family so many precious memories. You have never ceased to amaze, enlighten, and entertain us from day one.

Son, while preparing for your upcoming birthday celebration, we had the opportunity to look back through twenty-one years of memories through photos of you from birth to today and all we could do was smile and, sometimes, burst out into laughter. Like your older brother Gene, you too have made us so proud of you. We’ve watched you grow from a newborn to a man. Yes, a man. I hope all of the life lessons we’ve tried to instill into you over these twenty-one years and the examples we have set and led by, has enriched your life to where now, you may follow through the rest of your life as a leader, a potential husband, a father and most of all, a good, honest, humane person that will continue to bless anyone in your presence. You are already well on your way because you possess a kind and giving heart, that’s something we could not give you; you were born with it.

May God continue to keep you in his sight and under his protection while we’re here with you and when we’re gone.
